In the foreground is the gable end of the two-storey building 53 (Brygge), facing the harbour and supported by a beam. From the upper floor, a long rope leads over a pulley, which is attached to a crossbeam by a stronger rope. Behind it is a one-storey building 59 made of wooden slats, with it entrance is blocked by wooden crates lying around. In the background is the harbour with its pier and jetty and the fronts of buildings 69, 73 and 74, which are also reflected in the calm waters of the harbour basin. People are sitting on the pier, others are walking on the covered quay. Behind the pier are three islands in the North Atlantic.
