Description:

In the foreground you can see building 18 with an overgrown front garden fenced in with a white-painted picket fence. In the garden there is a leafless tree with a ghost made of bed sheets attached to it. A wooden staircase leads up to a small white wooden building 19 standing on a hill, with a heart painted on the door. The building was used as a toilet by the International Nyksund Project. In the middle of the picture, on the village street, is the red wooden building 20 with a self-designed sign of the Nyksund Festival for 16 August 1987. On the right side of the image are buildings 52 and 54. In the background on the island of Ungsmaløya are buildings 76-82 built on wooden piles and the old fish drying racks. The mountains of the islands of Langøya and Skogsøya can be seen in the distance.

The image, negative 37 of film and contact sheet 5, is one of 15 b/w 35 mm negative films with around 36 exposures each,"mostly taken by Wolfgang Eschenhorn, which document the stay of young people from Neukölln in Nyksund from July 18th to August 23rd, 1987.
